A classic beauty - a product of fermenting Coombsville Cabernet at low temperatures in small closed-top fermenters. The wood is restrained in flavor but present in structure to create a thick, succulent and classic mouthfeel.

From the same fruit sources as the Merus bottling, the Altus comes from select barrels that showcase fruit and pure varietal character and a tannin profile more feminine than masculine within the context of the vintage.

Sautéed and fresh pear and other fruit aromas fill the room with the first pop of the cork, beautifully balanced with toasty integrated oak. Rich and oily mouthfeel gives the impression of great weight despite modest alcohol.

Aromas of French raspberry hard candy meld beautifully with the burnt sugar and toasted almond smells of toffee. Just underneath lies an intriguing resinous note of fresh rosemary – a nod to the cool vintage.
