2013 Chalk Hill Clara's Red
Winemaker Notes
This 2013 Clara’s Red is dark and dense in color. It
has fruit-forward aromas of black currant, and dark cherry that mingle
well with black licorice, smoke, and dark chocolate. With dense
flavors of dark berries, dried herbs and dark chocolate, this is a rich
wine with refined tannins and a velvety texture. The 2013 Clara’s Red
can be enjoyed upon release, but will reward those that are patient
enough to cellar for 5 years.

Production Notes
The 2013 vintage was fantastic, following an equally prime vintage in
2012. The warm, even summer temperatures were perfect for growing
beautiful grapes.
Vineyard Notes
This Wine comes from our 15.9-acre Clara’s Vineyard located on Chalk
Hill Estate. First planted in 2003 this warm, south-facing site features
rocky, porous volcanic soils that are ideal for red Bordeaux varieties. To
preserve the long-term viability of the ecosystem, all of our vineyards are
maintained using low-input, sustainable viticultural practices.
