2014 Foley Estates Chardonnay, Bar Lazy S Ranch
Winemaker Notes
The 2014 Bar Lazy S Ranch Chardonnay displays mouthwatering
aromatics of caramel candy and pecan toffee on the nose. The palate
offers confectionery notes of roasted marshmallow and vanilla bean
accompanied by floral hints and balanced by a bright acidity. The wine
finishes with an evolving synergy of fruit and oak nuances.

Production Notes
The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed and transferred to tank
after harvest. After a day of cold-settling, the juice was inoculated and
racked to French and American oak barrels. It then underwent regular
stirring of the lees for added texture and complexity. All lots were kept
separate throughout vinification and aging to ensure character,
distinctiveness and quality. After aging for 18 months in 50% new
French and American oak barrels, the wine was bottled.
Vineyard Notes
2014 was an abundant vintage for the third straight year. A hotter than
average spring led to the earliest bud break on record. Conditions
remained ideal from bloom to set, and the warm growing season produced
grape clusters with larger than average berry size. The fruit achieved
optimal ripeness within a shortened time frame, translating to rich flavors
in the wines produced in this vintage. The yields were high in quantity
and quality, with harvest lasting from August 19 – October 10, 2014.
